Shooting a music video in Edmonton is part filmmaking, part storytelling, and part energy management on set. Having come up directing videos inside a music studio, this is the work closest to our roots at LP Studios. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how a video actually comes together.
From music to directing
Our story started in a music studio, directing videos for artists when no one else could. That background means we hear the track the way an artist does, and translate it into visuals that match the feeling, not just the lyrics.
Pre-production: concept and treatment
Great videos are won before the camera rolls. We build a treatment around the song: the vibe, locations, wardrobe, key shots and a shot list. Planning this upfront keeps the shoot day efficient and the result intentional.
On set: lighting and movement
Lighting sets the entire mood, moody and cinematic, or bright and high-energy. We combine that with deliberate camera movement and performance direction to keep every frame dynamic and alive.
The edit
Editing is where rhythm meets story, cutting to the beat, colour-grading for a cohesive film look, and pacing the energy so it carries from the first frame to the last.
Working with LP Studios
Every video is custom, so we scope and quote it around your track, vision and budget.
