Here’s how we coach our LP Studios grads to dress for photos that still look incredible years from now.
Start with your cap and gown
Your gown is the hero of at least half your shots, so plan around it. A simple top and clean neckline underneath keeps the focus on you and the gown. Steam it the night before, wrinkles read loudly on camera. Bring the cap, tassel and any cords or stoles; the small details tell the story of what you accomplished.
Choose one or two statement outfits
Beyond the gown, bring one polished outfit that feels like the next chapter, a tailored suit, a sharp dress, or a confident two-piece. Our Standard and Premium packages include outfit changes, so you can move from formal grad shots to a styled editorial look in the same session.
Pick pieces that fit well now, not pieces you’re hoping to fit into. Confidence photographs better than anything else.
Colours that pop on a studio backdrop
Against our black, white and grey cinematic backdrops, rich solids photograph best, deep reds, emerald, royal blue, crisp white and classic black all carry beautifully. If you want softness, muted tones and creams are elegant too.

What to avoid
- Tight logos and big graphics that date the photos
- Neon and highly saturated greens (they reflect onto skin)

Accessories, hair and makeup
Keep jewellery intentional, one or two pieces that catch the light. For makeup, a polished, slightly elevated version of your everyday look reads best on camera; you can add our professional makeup add-on if you’d like it done for you. Book hair and makeup to finish at least 30 minutes before your call time so you arrive relaxed.
